A Baroque chateau, built in the 17th century, on the right bank of the river Vltava in the outskirts of Prague with a French garden.

Situated in a splendid part of Prague, Troja, surrounded by beautiful gardens and the Vltava river. The Troja Chateau is also right next to the ZOO and winery, and Prague's Botanical Gardens.

A vast complex of buildings and gardens built by J. B. Mathey 1679 - 1685. The architect of Troja Chateau, Jean Baptista Mathey, was inspired by great villas in Italy and built one of the best summer houses to the north of Italy. The owner of the chateau was Count Sternberg, a member of a leading Bohemia aristocratic family. The chateau has changed many owners. One of them was even Maria Theresa.

After a costly reconstruction the object is open to the public and collections of the Gallery of the Capital city of Prague are housed here.

Troja Castle

The reconstruction of Troja chateau took 10 yeast as well as the siege of Troy. The chateau was renovated and, since 1989, the gallery placed there collections of paintings, early printed books and maps of Far East.

Known for its impressive staircase, richly decorated interior and splendid garden around. The core of the complex is the main three-wing building with a great hall. The most remarkable things about Troja chateau are the garden staircase and the decoration of the interior. The main garden staircase leads from the garden to the first floor. Is decorated by sculptures depicting gods and goddesses fighting the Titans, work of Dresden sculptors J. J. and P. Herrmann. The interior of the Grand Hall is adorned with fresco by Abraham Godyn, is considered to be one of the best examples of Baroque painting.
