When Valtice became the residence of the Lichtensteins, the role of Lednice changed into the summer residence. The chateau with an adjacent park is one of the most visited monuments in the Czech Republic; each year thousands of visitors are heading there.

Originally a Gothic water fortress protecting the entrance to the country was converted into a Renaissance chateau, which was rebuilt in the late 17th century in the Baroque style. The chateau gained its present form, which is a masterpiece of English Gothic, in 1850. It comprises a complex of buildings with eight wings, four courtyards, two towers, Baroque riding hall and greenhouse connected to the main chateau building. The interiors are richly decorated by carvings. The chateau grounds are covered by a large landscaped park with small romantic buildings and the famous minaret.

Rozhledna Minaret se nachází v lednickém parku asi 2 km severně od zámku. Kolem Zámeckého rybníka k ní vedou dvě cesty, na jedné z nich jsou pozůstatky Akvaduktu. Po Dyji sem jezdí turistické loďky, po prašných cestách koňská spřežení. Minaret v zemi křesťanů! Není divu, že vzbudil zvědavost a podnítil lidskou fantazii.
