The new ceremonial hall was originally divided into a mortuary, which was located in the basement, a room for the purification of the dead on the first floor, and a fellowship room of the funeral fraternity on the second floor. The building was made of marl, in the Neo-Romanesque style. The hall served this purpose only until the First World War. In 1926, the funeral fraternity leased it to the Jewish Museum.
