The late Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary Assumption was built in 1517-1548. For many centuries, it was situated in the place where an early Gothic basilica stood. In 1970s, the old town of Most was liquidated as it obstructed mining of rich brown-coal deposits; the church was on its last legs. Its salvation came in the form of a bold technical solution - in 1975 it was moved to a safer place by means of hydraulic support frames and a steel construction.
