We have been breeding royal condors at the zoo since 1970. In 2017, after almost 50 long years, the first cub of this most brightly colored condor was finally born. Since then, the breeding couple has successfully raised five cubs. This year, she is taking care of the sixth offspring, and even in this case it looks like the breeding will be successful. Natural breeding by parents is of extraordinary importance for European breeding.

The new exposition was opened in 2022. Lion macaques have been bred by the Ostrava Zoo since 1978. All this time, these rare and endangered primates lived in relatively cramped spaces without natural vegetation. The old pavilion dates from 1966, is already completely inadequate and is due for demolition.
