This castle, unique in so many ways, beautiful and easily accessible, belongs to our most visited sights. The baroque castle was erected in the end of the 17th century in the place of the original fort which was built by the knight Lamotte of Frintropp. After 1820, the castle was gradually redeveloped into a representative mansion. In the 1990´s a grand reconstruction and restoration of the exteriors, interiors and the castle park was started. It aims to achieve the appearance of the castle in its best times in the second half of the 19th century.

The basic Sightseeing Route – takes visitors to the authentic castle interiors that were reconstructed to the romantic neo-Gothic style (i.e. the style of the second half of the 19th century) in accordance with the preserved archive materials. Treasure House – presents jewels and sculptures of precious metals and stones that were dedicated to the Czech Republic by Mr František Khynl, a native of Turnov.

The Castle Aquarium – the exposition in the castle cellar focuses mainly on fish from the nearby rivers Jizera and Mohelka. The exhibition “Glass, metal – Miroslav Liederhaus” is a part of this exposition.

It all began in 1898 in Wien at the exhibition of the 50th anniversary of reign of Franz Josef I. At this exhibition there was also a giant cask serving to the purpose of a wine house. One of the visitors of this wine house was Wilhelm Huebel, landlord from Dlouhé Mosty near Liberec.
